French toast (healthy version)

Who doesn't feel like "sinning" with candy from time to time? The best option is to make the recipe yourself to avoid all kinds of oils, sugars or ingredients that harm our physical state. French toast or French toast are similar to our Spanish French toast , although in the rest of the world it is eaten for breakfast at any time of the year.

Healthy version

Logically, it is not a breakfast that we can make every day, but we can do it to treat ourselves and not regret the calories. The ingredients are similar to the classic recipe, but we try to change them for healthier ones to lower the level of fat and calories.

In this case we do not use oil or butters to fry them, since it is not necessary. In addition, we bet on whole wheat bread or bread with higher cereal content so that it continues to provide fiber. It is important that we try to find a loaf of bread that we can break ourselves so that the slices are not so thin.

As they do not contain preservatives, they can last in the fridge for 3 or 4 days. Keep them in an airtight container so they don't spoil soon.

Each toast contains about 176 calories . Yes, it is not a light breakfast, but it is a healthy and vegan version.

Ingredients

  • 1 and a half cup of oat milk
  • 8 slices of whole wheat bread
  • 2 tablespoons of flax seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons of agave syrup

Preparation

Put all the ingredients (except the bread) in a mixer and beat until fully integrated. Let it sit for about 5 minutes at room temperature.

Start soaking the toast

Put the mixture in a deep bowl and start to soak the toasts on both sides until they are well impregnated.
Depending on the type of bread, this process will take more or less. Make sure it doesn't get too soft so it doesn't break.

In the pan!

Heat the pan and cook the toasts over medium heat for about 5 minutes on each side. The result has to be a little golden.
It is not necessary to grease the pan, but you can do it with a little coconut oil.

Devour them!

Add the accessories that you like the most: red berries, yogurt, fruit, chia seeds …
