Cauliflower crumbs with ham

Crumbs are a typical Spanish dish that has different versions in Andalusia, Extremadura and Castilla La Mancha. Every human being is passionate about this dish, in which bread and meat products are its base. As you can imagine, the traditional recipe is an authentic caloric pump designed to have enough energy and face a hard day at work. Currently, very few people need such a high energy contribution, since we usually have sedentary jobs. Still, crumbs are still a rich option and very easy to make.

To avoid getting rid of this dish, we will make a few changes to the ingredients. We can always look for healthier options and taste the recipes that motivate us the most. In this case, we will replace the breadcrumbs with cauliflower.

Cauliflower to reduce calories

The original recipe features white bread crumbs, so we find a dish with a high content of fast absorbing carbohydrates. This generates insulin spikes and favors the storage of body fat. If we replace the bread with cauliflower, the nutrients vary and the calories are reduced. Also, we will have taquitos of serrano ham, but we will avoid the bacon, the chorizo and the bacon. I am sure you will like this healthy recipe and you will have no conscience.

Ingredients

  • 250 gr of cauliflower
  • 50 gr of olive oil
  • 50 gr of serrano ham taquitos
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Preparation

We prepare the cauliflower

We clean the cauliflower and remove the stem. We put it in a mixer and chop for a few seconds at medium speed. We reserve.

In a frying pan…

Heat the pan with the extra virgin olive oil and add the cauliflower. We remove and add the salt, the minced garlic and the paprika. We continue mixing so that everything is homogeneous.

Add the ham cubes and move so that they are incorporated with the rest of the ingredients. We stir about 4 minutes and they would be ready to serve.
