Tips to take care of your hair in the pool

Maintaining proper hair care in swimming is essential. Pool water contains substances that affect both our skin and our hair, so being cautious with care won't hurt.
Normally we will find hair with a straw texture, bleached, dry, broken, etc … So it is important to use protection whether you swim for training or if you do it for fun.

Chlorine, a great enemy

Chlorine will negatively affect your hair at all times , but especially if you have it subjected to some chemical treatment. Color baths, dyes, highlights and highlights, Japanese straightening, perms and any other type of treatment make your hair weaker.

It is recommended that you do not go to the pool until a week after applying the treaty in question. The compounds take time to settle and you must prevent them from any chemical reaction that may happen. Sometimes your dye may turn green or your hair may break more easily . Just like you go with the extensions, let them settle for a few days.

Protect it properly

To think that by wearing a swimming cap you are already protected is a real mistake. It is important that before putting it on, you soak your hair with cold water in the shower before going swimming. This way we prevent our hair from absorbing chlorinated water.
In addition, it is advisable to wear lycra or silicone caps , since latex caps harm the hair.

A good option is also to apply a protector such as oils or conditioners so that it does not get too dry. And of course, wash your hair with the shower as soon as you get out of the water. You must remove any remaining chlorine and chemicals.

Once we are in the shower, it is advisable to use a shampoo with sodium thiosulfate to neutralize the drying effect of chlorine. It is true that it is quite difficult to find a shampoo with those qualities, but you can choose one that contains wheat proteins, yogurt extracts or calendula.
After you wash your hair, try applying a moisturizing mask or conditioner and leave it on for as long as the instructions say.

If you swim outdoors you have to add a plus to your care. Use sun protection against UVA rays to prevent your hair from drying and fading.

Putting the hair in the hat is sometimes an impossible mission even for Tom Cruise. The ideal is to do a ponytail or braid with dry hair to avoid breakage. Obviously, when you get out of the shower, you must dry your hair before combing your damp hair.
