Discover the incredible Jurassic Park in Peru that has just been inaugurated

Steven Spielger, in the year 93, fueled the interest that had already been had so far for dinosaurs with his film ” Jurassic Park “. Children and adults began to feel fascinated by the history of these beings, by their behaviors and by their role in the world millions of years ago. Some provoked fear, others authentic tenderness, even so, this mixture of emotions made a feeling of nostalgia spread throughout society. Since then, many of us dream of witnessing what happened on Earth before human beings stepped on it for the first time. For this reason, some have not hesitated, years later, to try to make this dream come true, in part. Thus, from now on you can visit a Jurassic Park in Peru.

Jurassic Park in Peru

No, the Jurassic Park in Peru does not host living dinosaurs created in scientific laboratories. Now, we can know these beings in it through sculptures that show their shape and size. Without a doubt, it is a visit that will captivate all lovers of this theme.

Footprint discovery

That the Querulpa Jurassic Park is located in the district of Aplao, in the province of Castilla in Arequipa, is no coincidence. It was in 2002 when about seventy dinosaur footprints were discovered in this town. This fact happened thanks to the work of three young locals, who informed the authorities about their discovery and, from that moment, it was made known to the world. Thus, as of 2005, the Regional Government of Arequipa developed a tourism project to make it a mandatory stop for tourists.

The intervention took place through an inter-institutional agreement signed by the Provincial Municipality of Castilla and the Zafranal Project , within the Tourism Development Plan “Between the Sea and the Fire”. Among its objectives were the creation of the park taking into account the different sections, the placement of dinosaur sculptures, a playground, the maintenance of the center and refuge areas, among others.

Querulpa

Querulpa is a hill located in the center of the town of the same name, in Aplao. This construction allows us to show the world that the Jurassic Park of Peru is a tourist place with paleontological history . In the place there are the petrified footprints of dinosaurs and fossil remains of these beings that lived on our planet before our existence.

What can we learn in this Jurassic Park?

First of all, that dinosaurs are truly incredible beings. They can like more or less, attract more or less, but it is obvious that in all people they generate an emotion. They have shapes that we will never witness, immense sizes and very curious behaviors that cannot be compared with the beings that exist now on the face of the earth.

Hence the success that this place is having, which allows us to approach an era that we have only been able to witness through films, paintings or documentaries. Nobody has seen them, but intense studies have developed, using fossils, for example, how the Earth worked when humans still had a long time to see the light.

How did dinosaurs live?

In this magical corner of Peru we can discover that dinosaurs existed for at least 160 million years. To this day there has been no other species that has dominated the world for so long, not even humans. This indicates that this species had an unusual development and survival capacity.

We can also know that there have been at least 700 species of dinosaurs, although it is also estimated that 350 of them are unique. This means that the other half would be subspecies. However, paleontologists themselves assure that at least 200 more species remain to be discovered . This fact is based on the fact that many fossils remain in the depths of sea beds or that, basically, due to the passage of time, numerous specimens are found in extreme depths of the terrestrial soil that humans have not yet managed to reach or analyze.

Best known dinosaurs

Likewise, we will know the characteristics of the best known dinosaurs. For example, we can see the Tyrannosaurus Rex . This is by far the best known dinosaur specimen. He is powerful, feared and his gaze, if it is nailed with yours, can cause you to stay petrified. Meeting this giant reptile would have been an assured death, unless you were immobile, because in this case I would not be able to see you.

On the other hand, the Pteosaurus is by far the best known flying dinosaur. Calculating, observant and with great hunting skills, he was, let’s say, the eagle of our present times. Likewise, we cannot ignore the figure of the Diplodocus . It is one of the largest dinosaurs in all of history, but, when you remember it, it transmits peace, harmony and tranquility. All of the above is because he was harmless mainly due to his character. He was never looking for trouble, but he faced any being that provoked him.
