The Government launches a healthy recipe book against obesity

When it comes to eating healthy, we always think of recipes and dishes with a lot of elaboration and high prices, but the reality is very different, since eating varied and healthy is very easy and cheaper than we think. The Ministry of Consumption has launched a cookbook with ideas and healthy recipes for less than 2 euros per serving to combat obesity and inequality in food.

The Ministry of Consumption wants to reduce obesity rates in Spain and also eliminate the inequality produced by food prices. This means that families with less income can only buy cheap products that are mostly unhealthy and families with medium or high income have access to a greater variety of foods and, therefore, their diet is usually more varied and healthy . Even though is not always like that.

With this launch, Minister Alberto Garzón heads this initiative in the form of a recipe book where the portions are priced below 2 euros, and even the vast majority are less than 1 euro.

But this cookbook is not from the Minister, but has been created by and for the public thanks to the collaboration of the Doctor of Pharmacy and nutritionist Marián García, with the support of the Michelin-star chef María José San Román, and the journalist Arantxa Castaño.

Cheap, fast and healthy food

This is the title of this cookbook with ideas and recipes for less than 1 euros and 2 euros. It all comes as a result of the ALADINO study, where in 2019 an obesity rate of over 40% was reflected in school age groups, specifically between 6 and 9 years old. It is devastating data and it is an unequivocal sign of bad life habits, among other economic and social factors that we are not going to discuss.

From the initiative they comment that it is a free recipe book that we can review from today and download and print it. In addition, there are many easy-to-follow recipes, with healthy and environmentally friendly ingredients.

In 90% of these recipes there are only vegetables, greens, legumes and other fresh foods . In the rest we only see fish and chicken accompanied by vegetables, rice, eggs, cheeses and some seafood.

In general, they are very healthy recipes made to reduce the consumption of red meat that has earned such a bad reputation, not only because of all that it pollutes, but because of its close relationship with serious health problems such as heart disease and cancer.

Complete dishes, snacks and desserts

A guide where the steps of all the recipes are explained clearly, directly and easily . We have more than 35 different recipes, varied in ingredients, healthy and full of color and nutrients. Remember that, to reduce obesity, not only a correct diet is enough, you also have to drink water and practice sports with some regularity.

Among all these healthy recipes we see zucchini and carrot noodles; pumpkin cream and blue cheese; Beetroot hummus; guacamole with carrot sticks; pizza with vegetables; sea bass with potatoes and vegetables; chickpeas with ratatouille; lentils with rice; foot and zucchini omelette; homemade yogurt, chocolate and banana ice cream; chia and mango pudding; banana, blueberry and oatmeal smoothie, etc.
