Routes in the United States

Route 66

Route 66 is the most mythical in the United States and also the best known worldwide. Millions of people have already gone from Chicago to the famous Santa Monica beach in Los Angeles, passing through the states of Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico and Arizona, where the famous and iconic Grand Canyon.

The road that connects both points is known as The main street of America and has been the star of numerous films. It was opened in 1926 and has a total of approximately 3,700 kilometers . We recommend at least 15 days to do it and be able to enjoy it.

Pacific Coast Highway

Ruta Pacific Coast Highway de Estados Unidos

The Pacific Coast Highway runs from Los Angeles to San Francisco. It is not the shortest way to do this route, but it is one of the most interesting ways because it allows you to get to know Monterrey, Carmel-by-the-Sea, the Point Lobos nature reserve, Big Sur, the Bixby Creek bridge, the historical park Point Sur State Park, Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, Morro Bay, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Malibu.

As we have said before, the fastest way to get from Los Angeles to San Francisco is to take I-5 (Interstate 5), but with the Pacific Coast Highway the journey is much more enjoyable. This route is also known as US Route 1. We recommend about 10 days to do it and enjoy all its charm without rushing.

Route 61

Route 61 is also quite famous. It starts in Chicago and ends in New Orleans, a perfect journey for lovers of music, especially jazz, blues and soul. Like Route 66, this one has an approximate total of 3700 kilometers, so it is recommended to do it in about 15 days at least. Throughout all these kilometers, you can take a journey through the history of blues, jazz and soul since its inception. The route passes through the states of Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin and Kentucky, highlighting cities such as Nashville, Tennessee, Mississippi and Louisiana.

Route 2

Route 2 has a total of 4000 kilometers and connects the city of Washington with that of Maine. It is not one of the best-known routes, but it is a journey that invites you to reflect and discover unknown and not very touristy places in the United States . It also allows you to get to know southern Canada , which is a real wonder. We recommend making a short stop to see the most famous house in the country, the White House, and the Lincoln monument.

Blue ridge parkway

Molino Mabry Mill de la ruta Blue Ridge Parkway

The Blue Ridge Parkway is the favorite route for Americans. The most normal thing is that the starting point is Virginia and the goal North Carolina . We recommend slow and relaxed driving in order to enjoy the spectacular views offered by the rugged mountains and rural landscapes.

Just at mile 176 is one of the jewels of the route, the Mabry Mill. It was built in the early 1900s and has become a symbol of the Blue Ridge Parkway and the place where the Sundays of summer the musicians of the zone gather. We also consider the Appalachian Mountains a mandatory stop, especially if the route is done during the fall months.

Route 163

Route 163 is one of the shortest in the country, but this does not mean that it is less interesting than the rest. It travels part of the state of Arizona and is recommended, above all, to lovers of western cinema because it passes through the wildest part of the American West and allows to know those iconic images that appear in the movies.

The city of Phoenix, Barringer Crater, Antelope Canyon, Navaja Nation lands, and Monument Valley are some of the places that Route 163 crosses.

Hana Highway

The Hana Highway, besides being unknown, is also a very short route. It is located on the island of Maui, Hawaii, and links the city of Kahului and that of Hana. The result is obvious, the most beautiful landscapes that a person can see in their entire life.

The road has a total of 100 winding kilometers, so it is not suitable for people who get dizzy easily. Due to this curious shape and because the road is quite narrow, there are usually strong winds and there are many one-way bridges, it can take up to two hours to cover the entire length.

These are some of the many routes you can take when traveling to the United States. Some are better known than others, but all just as interesting.
