In this way, you will have the opportunity to visit them and find out the reason for the good reputation of this product.

History of the Ribera del Duero wineries

The first wine references in the area date back 2,000 years in history . Although there are no conclusive references, several historians and geographers such as Ptolemy relate in their works the wine-growing activity of the Celtiberians and Vacceans of the Duero basin when the Roman troops prepare to conquer it.

Romans

Precisely the Romans left traces of the cultivation of the vine and winemaking in the Ribera del Duero through works of art such as the Roman mosaic of more than 60 square meters in honor of the God Bacchus. This is considered the largest in the peninsula and was discovered by winegrowers during the 1972 harvest. Its value is such that it is considered a Historic-Artistic Site .

Unfortunately, in 2011 the site suffered looting and theft that caused irrevocable damage to this piece. At present, a replica of the missing tiles has been reproduced and can be visited at the Baños de Valdearados Interpretation Center .

Grape varieties

The Riberas have a common denominator: the Tempranillo grape . Under the name of Tinta del País or Tinta Fina, an autochthonous fruit of the Ribera del Duero has been made known that provides the color, aroma and body so that these wines are unrepeatable.

Along with Tempranillo, the Regulatory Council allows other varieties: reds, such as Cabernet-Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec and Garnacha Tinta or the only authorized white, Albillo or Blanca del País . There are six varieties of grapes for an unmistakable flavor that marks the quality of each bottle.
