Chocolate donuts (apple based)

Who doesn't like chocolate donuts? It could be said that it is one of the most consumed bakery products worldwide, known as rosquillas and having its own theme park in the USA. Looking for a healthy idea to have the excuse of eating them, we propose the apple and banana based version.

Taking advantage of the fact that apples are usually present throughout the year, it is a perfect option to introduce good habits and eat nutrient-laden sweets. A while ago we taught you how to make vegan pumpkin, sweet potato or totally healthy donuts with a high protein content; but this time the recipe is much simpler and with fewer ingredients.

donuts de manzana y chocolate

We have created a chocolate coating with a high cocoa content, but you can use other options, such as homemade nutella or peanut butter from Mercadona.

Ingredients

  • 350 grams of oatmeal
  • 280 grams of apple (skinless and chopped)
  • 1 egg
  • 80 grams of banana
  • 4 ounces of 85% cocoa chocolate
  • Chopped almonds
  • Cinnamon to taste

Preparation

We mix the dry ingredients

In a large bowl, introduce the flour, cocoa and cinnamon. Mix until everything is homogeneous.

If you don't have oatmeal, you can buy oat flakes and grind them at home to a powdery look.

We crush the fruit

In another bowl, put the apple pieces, the banana and the egg. We beat until we get a homogeneous mixture too.

We join the two mixtures

We mix both containers vigorously until we get a very compact mass.

We will pour into the molds

The most recommended is to have donut molds so that they come out as equal as possible.

If you don't have it, you can put large pieces of dough on a tray (moistened with oil). You just have to make the shape and hole of the donut with the help of a spoon.

Baked!

We preheat the oven to 180ºC.

Then we introduce the tray of donuts for 30 minutes.

We prepare the topping

While our donuts are being made, we melt the 4 ounces of dark chocolate in the microwave, with a little oil so that it is diluted well.

To eat!

Take the donuts out of the oven and pour the melted chocolate on top. You can also add some chopped almonds.

Let cool for a couple of hours at room temperature, and put them in the fridge to make them crispier.
