Essential to see the world from the sofa, and a little history.

3. By the Sea of Cortez, by John Steinbeck

A classic among those who want to delve into human nature and the history of the United States. Steinbeck embarked on a sardine boat in 1950 and with it he traveled the coastline of the Gulf of California, which inspired him to create this story about the seekers of mother-of-pearl in the bay of La Paz, south of the Baja California peninsula.
